Speaking to Sky News at the premiere of Ticket To Paradise, his new romance with Julia Roberts – which took place in Leicester Square, less than a mile from Number 10 – it was the new Prime Minister who showed the actor’s serious side. Photo: Universal Studios “As we always say, we wish you the best because there’s a lot to come,” she said from the red carpet. “There’s a lot of big issues coming up, a lot of financial concerns for the whole country, so we all hope he does the best he can and we hope there’s a bit of luck in it because it’s a tough time for everybody.” But speaking in the joint interview, Roberts took the opportunity to tease her co-star for underestimating women in danger. “We know women are terribly clever, don’t we, George?” she added. The pair have perfected the art of teasing each other over the past two decades. While both are married to other people in real life, their chemistry on the big screen has now seen them play husband and wife for more than 20 years – including 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven and 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve. Ticket To Paradise was specifically written with both in mind, and sees them play warring exes who reunite in Bali to try and stop their daughter from marrying a seaweed farmer. Clooney admits: “Like in the movie, I don’t think… 30 seconds go by where he doesn’t say something derogatory about me… which pisses me off.” “But in a nice way,” Roberts insists, adding, “Sometimes subtle, sometimes not so subtle.” Use Chrome browser for more accessible video player 1:46 Clooney and Roberts’ great chemistry on screen The film features some impressive drunken dance moves – but was alcohol consumed to pull off scenes like these? “Not a drop!” Roberts insists. “But Julia does a lot of drugs, so it’s okay, you can’t drink and take those kinds of hallucinogens, it’s a lot of mushrooms,” Clooney teases.
