THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darren Calabrese Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he will use the upcoming parliamentary session to push the Liberals to move forward on dental care and housing as set out in the bipartisan agreement. Singh told reporters today ahead of the rally in downtown Halifax that he intends to force the government to “deliver for the people.” In March, the New Democrats struck a deal with the Liberals to keep a minority government in power until 2025 as long as there is action on NDP priorities like dental care and housing support. Under the deal, the Liberals promised to create a dental care program for children under 12 by the end of the year. Singh says he is very confident the plan will be in place before 2023, but says there will be “repercussions” if it isn’t. The NDP leader says when the House of Commons resumes in mid-September, his party will focus on pressing the government to address affordability issues amid rising living costs.
