He put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until at least 2027, making him one of the club’s highest earners on £250,000 a week. When asked about Tuchel’s high praise for his performances last season, the right-back said he was flattered by the praise and wanted to highlight the German’s role in helping him contribute more goals. “I think it depends on him [Tuchel]. He wants our full-backs to be very aggressive and attack whenever we get the chance,” he had said in November 2021. “Obviously scoring helps anyone’s confidence, but I believe in my ability and so when I get a chance I back myself up. It’s always nice when people appreciate you, but I’m still young and I have a long way to go.”
