RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor impounded a dozen vehicles over the Labor Day weekend. On Friday, police pulled over six vehicles between 9am and 1pm in the city area. The six were charged with various traffic offences, including driving without registration, insurance or a suspended licence. All six vehicles were impounded. That same afternoon, police pulled over a 54-year-old driver on Harris Avenue, where he blew more than two and a half times the legal limit. His vehicle was impounded and he will answer to impaired driving charges at a later date. The following afternoon, around 5:00 p.m., police were following a car when a strong odor of cannabis emanated from the car. The 40-year-old driver tested positive for cannabis in a roadside drug test and was arrested. That same night, three more men in Botwood, Bishops Falls and Grand Falls-Windsor were arrested and had their vehicles impounded for impaired driving. Finally, just before midnight Saturday night, police pulled over a car on Carmelite Street where a 50-year-old driver failed a road test. His vehicle was impounded. Lumsden Speeder Meanwhile, RCMP impounded another man’s vehicle after he was caught speeding in Lumsden on Tuesday. A 29-year-old driver was caught traveling at 148 km/h in a 50 km zone. The driver was ticketed, his license was suspended and his vehicle was impounded.
